Although remote working is becoming a more common feature of the modern workplace, for many it is still not the norm. As Covid-19 forces more and more companies to implement work-from-home policies we thought we’d share our top tips on how to keep productive and more importantly stay sane!
- Have a Routine
Bringing the office home doesn’t mean you are required to work 24 hours a day. Schedule in regular breaks, take lunch in a different room, go for a walk and get some fresh air! Maintaining your mental wellbeing is of the upmost importance. As a company we are big believer of setting a daily plan. Create a to do list and where you can stick to it. If you have an end goal in mind you are more likely to use your time more wisely.
- Stay Social
Don’t completely isolate yourself from the outside world! As an office based team we are used to bouncing off each other on a daily basis. Take full advantage of online platforms such as Slack, Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. More importantly don’t be afraid to pick up the phone. We’re all in the same boat.
- Get Ready for Work
I know it seems daft as the the commute is out the window but maintaining routine when everything feels a bit out of control is good for your mental well-being and increases productivity. Shower, get dressed, have breakfast and keep to schedule.
- Don’t Sit in Silence
We may sometimes crave a little bit of peace and quiet from time to time however it’s not long before boredom sets in. Don’t be afraid to turn the radio on or create a playlist of your favourite feel good tunes. As more and more events turn digital why not join a Facebook live conference?
- Pick Your Workspace
Not everyone is lucky enough to have a home office. Pick your workspace wisely! Although the sofa or bed might seem tempting they are also likely to be counter productive. Where you can try and keep work and home life separate. Take time to de-clutter a space so it doesn’t act as a distraction.
