2019… WHAT A YEAR!
Before we take a well-deserved break to stuff ourselves with Christmas pudding and spend time with family and friends, we thought we would take a look back on what has been a fantastic year for GB Recruitment.
Our year kicked off with the launch of our contract desk. Our associate director, Glen Halliwell, really hit the ground running with this. We don’t like to brag but our placement ratio is 1 in 2.1 contractors. As a one-man band Glen has managed to create enough demand to warrant building a dedicated contract team in the new year.
This wasn’t the only success within the team this year. In August, Mike Smith reached his Senior target and qualified for a promotion. He ended the year as our top biller for the third year running and is well on the way to hitting his next promotion target.
In July our founder, Jo Fleming, held the inaugural Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business Awards. The sold-out event welcomed 400 guests and received more than 100 nominations. It has already been announced that the event will be held again on Friday 3rd July 2020. Having secured the state-of-the-art bonus arena, we can’t wait to attend this highlight event in the Hull business calendar.
This was of course not the only event we launched this year. At the beginning of October, we held the very first Tech Expo Humber. This 2-day event attracted over 2,000 attendees with guests traveling from as far as San Diego, China and Dubai. In just three months it managed to achieve a 1.5 million PR and Social Reach and we managed to secure speakers from some of the biggest names in Tech such as IBM and Twitter. We can’t wait to re-launch in 2020.
We were delighted to find out at the end of October that our Managing Director, Antonio Tombanane, had been chosen by Tech Nation as one of the 50 most inspiring, prominent and influential black voices in UK Tech. As the founder and lead organiser for the Tech Expo Humber he has dedicated as significant amount of time this year to promoting tech, talent and enterprise in the Humber. We couldn’t be prouder that his work has been recognised on a national level.
A definite highlight for the entire team this year was being able to finally call the C4DI home. It’s great to have our office based at the heart of Hulls Tech Community and we are already seeing the benefits of such a creative space. It has been an amazing year which has seen a profit increase of 40%. We see the new office as the ideal location for our growing team.
Last but not least, team GB, has this year seen two new additions through the door. At the end of September April Mackenzie joined us in the brand-new position of Senior Marketing Executive. She will be working closely with Antonio to deliver the 2020 Tech Expo Humber. Our second newbie, Anna Underwood, joined us in November. Our brand new trainee recruiter comes with a wealth of knowledge from the recruitment industry in Japan!
We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store as we continue to grow the team and brand.
