We are proud to announce that GB Recruitment are an employee partner for the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology.
“It’s an honour to be a board member for such a fantastic institute. As Hull’s only specialist IT recruitment firm, we know only too well the skills gaps in the industry. Next year it’s thought they’ll be a 756,000 shortage of ICT professionals in Europe. By investing in the right training we are not only providing young people with a successful career path but also making a real difference to businesses in our region. The idea is to highlight the possibilities a career in tech can offer and equip students with the right skill set to achieve this.”Antonio Tombanane
Managing Director of GB Recruitment and Founder of the Tech Expo Humber
The Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology brings investment of circa £10 million of capital funding into the region to be invested in industry standard equipment to provide higher level technical training. This massive training boost will enhance employment opportunities and ensure highly qualified employees for the regions’ employers.
We are one of five employee partners to recognise the need for investment in education to address their wider skills shortages. Digital and Engineering businesses ViSR, CATCH, Skipton Building Society and ENGIE Fabricom have all also signed up to be involved in designing the appropriate curriculum, supported by research from the universities. As employee partners we are part of the governance of the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology to ensure continued collaboration and long-term benefits for the region.
York College is leading a consortium of colleges in the region to develop the Yorkshire & Humber Institute of Technology, which is one of twelve Institutes of Technology across the country designed to increase higher level technical skills for employers.
The consortium is made up of nine educational partners: Askham Bryan College, Bishop Burton College, Craven College, East Riding College, Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education, Selby College and York College, as well as the University of Hull and University of York St John, to deliver the Institute of Technology in Yorkshire and the Humber.
“We are delighted to be working with Further and Higher Education providers to develop the region’s prestigious Institute of Technology. This is a wonderful opportunity to focus on developing higher level technical skills across the York, North Yorkshire, East Riding and North Humberside area. Across the region, facilities will be improved enabling greater alignment between the courses we offer and employers’ needs. At York College specifically the Institute of Technology investment has contributed to the upgrading of facilities in Engineering, Digital Technologies and Construction, and the development of a Higher Education hub area. The work we are doing is supported by significant capital investment to improve the level of skills, increase productivity, and make a real difference to the success of the region.”Lee Probert
